You can rotate the system by selecting an option under Game Boy Advance -> Orientation while the game's running - no need for a special monitor. There's currently a bug where controls are inverted when the screen's rotated 90 or 270 degrees, but I've opened a PR to fix this (#1609).

What I mean is to make all ares supported systems support these four degrees of rotation. All handheld consoles support screen rotation. Some shooting games developed for computers and game consoles were developed for rotating monitors. For example, Treasure's Ikaruga was originally an arcade game. You need a Dreamcast and a rotating monitor. Open Settings-Video-Rotation. Later Ikaruga ports all support rotation. monitor (recent version for Nintend's Switch also support in Docked and Handheld mode). If I port Doodle Jump for WonderSwan, only two main buttons are needed
Handheld game console: By default, it automatically follows the four rotation degree mapping buttons, or it can not follow the four rotation degree mapping buttons manually. The D-Pad can be rotated automatically or manually.
Home computer and Game Console: Rotating Screens, Rotating D-Pads, Rotating Screens and D-Pads
Or in other words, for non-WonderSwan handheld game consoles, home computers and game consoles 1. Only rotate the screen 2. Only rotate the D-Pad 3. Rotate screen and D-Pad

Some home consoles require two monitors, two consoles, and two joysticks with extra buttons, like Sega's port of Virtual On: Cyber ​​Troopers for the Dreamcast. I'm not sure rotating the two screens is necessary, but showing both screens is certainly necessary, just like the arcade version of it
The two (players) HyperShot controllers developed by Konami for the Famicom and SG-1000 can also be rotated. They only have two buttons each, but the arcade version of the sports game it is compatible with has three buttons, because some people are left-handed and some people are left-handed. They are right-handed, and some people are both. I remember it was Hyper Olympic and Hyper Sports. Only the 2600's Track & Field control had three buttons.
There are many arcade games developed for vertical screens, the most famous example, Space Invaders
Make horizontal shooters like Gradius play like vertical shooters

In addition, I remember that the ported version of Ikaruga supports rotating D-Pad (and Analog Stick? Haven’t tried it) in the settings.
