new with argocd, question about volumes

I'm actually learning about argocd and i have a question abount pvc. I started the las version of argo. It seems that argo doesn't need pv/pvc to work ? All is stored using labels. Am I right ?

I can see options for volumes in the values file of the chart helm. In which case do you use these volumes ?
