Using Atlas MySQL connector without docker access (inside a devcontainer) ... "docker://mysql/8/dev" ?

As the title suggests, it's not clear or documented on how we connect without using docker. e.g., when working inside a devcontainer environment, setting up docker is neither a good idea or well established ...

Hey. You need to ensure the container running atlas has access to the mysql container.

Usually you can specify the connection string by using the container name, e.g. mysql://user:pass@container-name:3306/database

mysql://root:pass@db:3306/numberstore-svc change the host to db and you're good to go. :3

So, it should be mysql://root:root@db:3306/numberstore-svc

Ok @giautm @masseelch I am not sure why ... but Atlas no like the user being set to "root" ... 🤔

The root account is always created by MySQL server. You don't need MYSQL_USER and MYSQL_PASSWORD env variables, it's for non-root user.

Hey, you can use the URL string to connect to a database. The docker:// is a helper that allow you run temporary db and auto cleanup after atlas' run.
