With the Roman Empire expanding its reach, people from all over the empire wanted to connect to the royal family. In order to do this, they would use hairstyles made popular by the royal family to add to their own portraits and convey high stature.
This section will show examples of portraits of aristocratic people and their ways of connecting themselves to the royal family with hairstyles.
