Using iTerm2 (the popular terminal alternative), if I select some text, and then three-finger-tap, the selected text is pasted twice at the prompt. One copy of the text is highlighted, the other is not, if that makes a difference. If middle-clicking with an actual mouse, the text is pasted once at the prompt of course, and it is highlighted.

Config:
MacBook Air M3
macOS Sequoia 15.2
iTerm2 Build 3.5.10 with Shell Integration enabled
GNU bash, version 5.2.37(1)-release (aarch64-apple-darwin24.0.0)
