Trying 1;$p , but it isn't printing anything. Also 1,$p doesn't work too.
Seems like C implementation is more functional nowadays.
Also absence of any documentation make me sad.
Here the standard which can be used for implementing ed:

There is also 1981 book on subj with examples written in Pascal authored by Kernighan and Plauger [1].
