I thought about using the viewer for some quick debugging (seeing if I load something correctly), but building on Windows was too hard since there are still some external dependencies missing (SDL) and I gave up. I don't doubt that I could have done it, if I invested more time, but the whole point was to use the Viewer to speed up some other debugging. Forcing to compile it first made the viewer literally useless to me, I just solved my problems without it...
Its a shame though, its not like there is a new version every week or so, and some devs can clearly build it easily - just upload the binary and people can be happy...
And then, obviously, advertise it on the official website properly. I can believe that many people would like to know if Assimp can load their models, before fully integrating it. A ready-to-use viewer would be an amazing demo if the capabilities. It could be so useful, but not if people have to compile themself...
Please create a release that people aren't frightened away from when they try to download on Windows.
Thanks!
John
