q2 depends on certain directories off of the home directory #5

q2 currently requires you to use specific directories off of the home directory, however on some remote machines hosted by universities, the home directory is small / has restrictions and they prefer you to use a different directory for scientific work. It would be good to make that configurable in some way (but keeping the default as it is for current users).
