Set user roles on creation of accounts and login as a user (impersonate) user experience for only admins ..

I'm the owner of the firebase account so i have access to the service account. I was wondering is it possible to set user roles on creation of user accounts ?? and then check if the user role is an admin, then i can allow the user to login as another user for helping and providing support to users ??

I have setup the authentication code from the starter template , but i would like to know if there was a sample code or some code snippets to help achieving the above use cases ??
