CrackDisplacementFactor can cause bounding box discovery failure

CrackDisplacementFactor can cause the bounding box calculation to fail as seen in #319. Some options: changing the default to 0.0, changing the value to be small enough to be less problematic, change the perturbation to be orthogonal to the discovered direction.
