Currently the heartbeat thread will continue to attempt pinging forever, and even if the proxy returns, it may not successfully recover.

crawld should:

terminate after a threshold of failed pings has been reached
try harder to reconnect to etcd

nevali added bug enhancement labels

nevali added the crawler label
