There are a couple good reasons for changing the license of this project to MIT from the current GPL v3:
we're using the inferno crate which is licensed under the CDDL (to match licensing of the underlying flamegraph library by Brendan Gregg). It doesn't seem like the CDDL and GPL are compatible, so keeping this project as GPL is problematic.
rbspy is licensed under the MIT license, and I'd like to share some of the code written here with rbspy
a MIT license will make adoption at my work (and probably others) slightly easier
For these reasons, I'm thinking about releasing the next version of py-spy (v0.2.0) under the MIT license.
