On fields that use an ontology, there's an option to add a new value if that value is not found in the ontology:
However, for things that have partial matches (see "SARS-CoV-2" as an infectiousAgent in the NIAID Guide), it's unclear that this option exists, since presumably you would have to scroll to the bottom of a long embedded frame, and at least right now, that option doesn't appear to be available. Propose adding a link to the top of the results to make it more prominent:
