I can't seem to be able to add a pre-defined folder with images to PiGallery2.
If I tell it that the media storage is found somewhere else than a system generated location, it complains about not being able to read from a location within its container (I believe)

free bump because I am also having this exact issue. Also on TrueNAS 24.10. I think TrueNAS might be a better place to ask for help with this, but their forum sucks to be honest. Haven't ever had very good luck posting there.

I will update this if I can figure it out, although I tried giving "everyone" full read permissions to my dataset and it didn't change anything :(

Did you ever come to a resolution for this? Sorry to get you excited with a post notification only to be asking for more help...

I still HAVEN'T got it up and running but I've been given 3 solutions:

  • install Portainer on TrueNAS and then use that to deploy and manage the PiGallery2 app.

  • deploy the PiGallery2 container using 'Custom YML' from the TrueNAS Apps page. This way you can easily specify what volumes Bing to what locations. You can also find the Docker Compose file online, for convenience.

  • ....... Ditch PiGallery2 and switch to Immich. I've been told it's much better and you can install it directly from TrueNAS's app Catalog. (I haven't done the required research to back the 'it's better' claim)
