Description

This is a familiar issue that dates back to at least 2015. I've had this issue on Windows laptops when using Chrome, the issue however disappeared (got fixed) several years ago. Now it seems it's come back. Note: I am using a number of add-ons but I havent added/removed added any new in the past 1+ years.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Sleep / hibernate the PC. (brave is minimized but I dont think it's necessary, it can be closed.)
  2. Wake up the computer, open brave & load a website
  3. Brave will be stuck and won't load anything. No errors or problems, simply endless loading. Other browsers work fine.

Actual result:

Picture: loading a website. Nothing will happen for about 2-3 minutes, then suddenly it snaps and everything loads as it should.

Reproduces how often:

Not always. But when it appears, it's the same story everytime.

Brave version (brave://version info)

Brave 1.9.76 Chromium: 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision 8c6c7ba89cc9453625af54f11fd83179e23450fa-refs/branch-heads/4044@{#999}
OS Windows 10 OS Version 1909 (Build 18363.836)

I am not sure if this has something to do with hibernation. I have a similar problem for a few days now. Randomly pages stop loading and are stuck in this endless loop. It even happens with brave internal pages like brave://version etc. I tried resetting brave, but now success. I am currently on 10.15.5 (19F101) macOS. I can not use Brave until this is resolved. This needs to get fixed asap.

Interesting, I never have problems outside the internet scope (brave://version working fine) and the issue appears strictly after waking PC from sleep/hibernation, never during use. I've had similar issues as you described with Brave earlier (1-2 months ago) but that has since been resolved.

Do you remember how do you resolved the issue?

It was Brave update that fixed it.

@TheNoim I see your new issue #10128 👍

Small misunderstanding - when talking about Brave update "fixing it" I was talking about the issue TheNoim was reporting on (with Brave being stuck and not responding). The issue I originally reported is still present.

update:
I have linked my issue to VPN. When using a VPN program that is set to connect on PC wake, it will somehow confuse Brave to the point it will not load anything. Disconnecting from the VPN doesn't fix the issue, one must simply wait. Other browsers (Firefox) not affected.
