High CPU after using GitHub Gists page #27924

Description

High CPU usage and instability after visiting GitHub gists website and opening a gist page.

I'm not sure if this is a more general bug or just specifically for GitHub gists.

May be related to: https://community.brave.com/t/crash-while-navigating-to-search-results/34151/20

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Brave
  2. Login to GitHub
  3. Visit: https://gist.github.com/mine
  4. Open a gist

Actual result:

After Bug:
high CPU usage

After Closing App off (X):
(Service still maintains high CPU usage)
bg service after closing off app

Expected result:

No massive CPU usage for viewing one page.

Easily reproduced

Brave version (brave://version info)

1.47.171 Chromium: 109.0.5414.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)
2dc18eb511c56e012081b4abc9e38c81c885f7d4-refs/branch-heads/5414@{#1241}
Windows 11 Version 22H2 (Build 22621.1105)

Version/Channel Information:

  • Can you reproduce this issue with the current release? Yes
  • Can you reproduce this issue with the beta channel? not tried
  • Can you reproduce this issue with the nightly channel? not tried

Other Additional Information:

  • Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Shields? No
  • Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Rewards? No
  • Is the issue reproducible on the latest version of Chrome? Not tried
