Hi @itsfrank98 Will need some more information on your setup. I'm not able to reproduce, I'm using Ubuntu 22.10

@rebron rebron added the needs-more-info The report requires more detail before we can decide what to do with this issue. label Feb 17, 2023

In my case, it only breaks with light mode.

Is there anything you've noticed which triggers it? Like, any particular sites, or does it happen after something else? I'm struggling to reproduce it on 1.49.100, Ubuntu 22.04 (maybe if we're extra lucky it fixed itself). Would you mind testing Brave Beta and seeing if it still happens?

One other question which might help, do you know if you're using Wayland?

@xVemu, are running Linux too?

I'm using Windows 11 with Brave Stable. From my experience Instagram, YouTube, YouTube Music, Brave Search, Brave Shields and bookmark's folder icons are broken.

Thanks, I'll start looking into it @xVemu. Would you mind giving me your Brave version too (you can find it at brave://version)

@rebron Here you go. I've also noticed that icons are broken only on my 1600×900 screen, on FHD everything looks good.

Hi, I encountered the same problem on Brave v1.48.164, Ubuntu 20.04 since several days, but I could fix it by disabling the hardware acceleration in the settings of Brave. There is an open issue for the chromium browser related to this problem as well (https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1409795&q=favicon&can=2).

I can confirm, disabling hardware acceleration fixes the issue.

Been having the same issue on Zorin OS 16 with the latest stable build of brave, disabling hardware acceleration fixed the issue.

Thanks for finding that @LukasGoetz - looks like the solution is probably going to need to come from upstream Chromium - disabling hardware acceleration is a good workaround 😄

@bsclifton bsclifton added workaround/disable-hw-acceleration gpu/driver bug and removed needs-more-info The report requires more detail before we can decide what to do with this issue. labels Mar 6, 2023
