I've had an idea for a new kind of status page layout. What if we used a timeline design? We could still list each day, but under it would be a timeline view, with each icon being the status:

@HipsterBrown what do you think?

👍 For the idea. It would make Cachet more unique, Interested to see how you would do it and how it looks :)

Thanks @kfrankperson - I'm glad you like the idea. It wouldn't be too hard to implement either. I'll give it a go.

Quick and dirty hack to show what i thought :)

That's an amazing start, here are some thoughts:

  • The status icon should be within a circle which is coloured based on the status value (as it currently is).
  • The "Today" label could be blue for today, but then a lighter shade/grey for past days. Would we show relative dates?

It's brilliant so far!

Thanks for your comments, I am no designer but I thought i would give it ago.

Again it's rushed and very dirty but I think it gets the idea across.

It looks good, the icons should be white though for contrast. I love the background and layout.

For comparison, here's what I've been playing with:

Shouldn't those events be the other way round?

You nailed the fix, then you noticed there was an issue???

Yeah the seeder is back to front 😉

Actually, the seeder is correct, it just happened at exactly the same time, so it's ordering naturally.

BTW, all I've done here is copy the markup (albeit with some heavy clean up) so I can quickly play with it.

Sure. It just looks very odd to see it in that order.

I might put a usleep in there to split them up a bit.

This is now done:
