First byte/keystroke of a shell/debug session is lost #191

When dealing with debug sessions, I often notice that the first keystroke that I send in response to the root prompt that opens, is lost. I don't exactly know why but it seems there is something wrong with buffering or pseudo-terminals somewhere.
