Hi!

I see what you are getting at, but the default Tap is not really comparable to Homebrew's --repository. Similarly, the Caskroom dir (which we are in the middle of renaming the "stage") is not comparable to Homebrew's --prefix (#8677).

Also, up to now we have not supported pseudo-verbs starting with --, which is a good thing.

The general plan is to expose this type of information in an organized way via a config verb similar to git config.

Agreed on the virtues of keeping pseudo-verbs out of the command set; I like the idea of exposing a config verb much better. I'm cool with closing this in that case.

However, I still think something like brew cask --prefix alfred has value, even if we remove the leading -- from --prefix, or use another verb altogether (though that discussion belongs in #8677).

Ok so this issue is closed, is there another issue which is discussing the config command or whatever? Seems like there should be an open issue somewhere.
