VS code can compare a file. We have (via F1->"compare ..."):

  • file with saved file
  • file with any file
  • file with opened file

The nice thing: this keeps all syntax highlighting and there's no need to leave the editor.

I guess the following could be done internal when "svn diff" is used:

  • get the base for the current file via svn checkout to $TMP / %TEMP%
  • open the file and switch to it
  • compare with the current file

The left file (the one where the compare->with was started from) is always read-only, which is perfect in this case.
