Updating to ES6 + changes in API

@homeofmatt or anyone else involved, would you be interested if I took a chance with a side project and updated this to use a completely new backend that allows it to be more flexible, also updating to use JSONAPI schema

I’d love to see what you can do (but I’m not at Chapman presently, either).

However, a previous committer, one @mileszim, has generously licensed this project MIT to Chapman University. As it is one of the most permissive licenses, you should be totally free to extend it, @mileszim, respecting the original MIT license provided by @mileszim.
