Guide for New Volunteers

This is the place to go if you are new to Hack for LA! All the information you want is here. If it isn't, tell us, and we will get you the information you need!

First Things First

  1. Signup for a Hack for LA Meetup near you.
  2. Read our Code of Conduct.
  3. Join our Slack. You should receive the email immediately after self-invite.
  4. Join the channel specific to your hacknight:
  5. Explore the Hack for LA website for projects near you.
  6. Complete the new member [survey form] - LINK FORTHCOMING.
  7. Bring your questions to the hacknight, or ask them on Slack:
    • Each project has its own Slack channel, and you can find the whole list by clicking on "Channels" in Slack.
    • General questions can be posted in the #general channel.
  8. Setup up your GitHub account:
