It appears that the version of VMware Tools shipped with VMware Workstation 11.1.2 doesn't know about --force-install and fails during the execution of scripts/common/vmtools.sh.

Reverting #454 fixes the issue, but I don't know if (and what) other side effects it might cause.

I just found out that it was already reported with a comment in #377, sorry for the noise.
