Describe the problem.

Need to adapt current Maximo training materials to classroom-based training for SBO personnel as they progress through the Career Progression program.

Describe the solution you have in mind.

Classroom-based training that introduces personnel to using Maximo at Tech II level, with stronger mastery of (most) all things Maximo at the Tech III level. Tech III's should come out of the training able to perform all functions that Crew Leads perform, since they will fill in for Crew Leads when the Crew Leads are out.

How will we know that our solution is successful?

Personnel successfully apply their learning to field work, creating and completing work orders correctly and accurately, with minimal need for correction or rework.

Users

Training will be provided to SBO Tech I & Tech II personnel as they move through the Career Progression program. We (SBO & DTS) may want to extend this model to include training for Crew Leads, advanced users, and other personnel, as well.

Is there anything else we should know?

We're aiming to start the first group of Tech I's in Career Progression in May. Tech I to Tech II training should be ready by then. While a target date for Tech II to Tech III has not been set yet, we should plan on a summer launch for that program.

How have other divisions/departments/cities addressed similar challenges?

Self-paced document-based training exists, but is not likely to be successful for this audience. Instructor-led hands-on training is likely going to be necessary for this group.

Discussion during SBO sprint review 2/6

Timeline

  • DTS: to work on ideating for the SBO career progression testing process throughout February
  • SBO: Dave/Cierra on reviewing the material in Gitbook throughout February
  • Will regroup in March to determine any changes that need to be made

Goals

  • Instead of staff going through Gitbook themselves -> move to a classroom based learning
    • End training with testing to confirm they know the information

Needs Discussion for Trainers between Classroom/Field

  • DTS was envisioning that we identify trainers within SBO for who should facilitate these trainings.
  • Dave was envisioning that Maximo team could assist with the training
  • Identify SMEs within SBO (outside of the project assistants) and what the qualifications would be for someone to become an SME.
  • DTS will discuss internally to identify how to structure with the staff available within DTS and SBO
  • Reiners thoughts: If SBO gets the 5 Project Assistants that will train with DTS to become SMEs, we could hand off the training to these SME/Power Users.

Next steps

  • Christina schedule meeting to sync with Diana and Rebekka
  • Follow up with scheduling meeting with Dave and Cierra
