I have seen this issue reported and closed in the past.
If you start the kafka web console on say Debian 8.0/Jessie with all requirements and connect it to some kafka brokers, you see the amounts of sockets in use going up and never being released.
This is very bad for both the machine running the kafka-web-console and of course the kafka server itself as it could run out of file descriptors.
