Plotting doesn't work well in Spyder

Using the Spyder IDE (https://docs.spyder-ide.org), interactive plotting with Visclaw doesn't really work. No plots appear until one quits out of the interactive prompt, and then only the last plot appears.

This sounds like a threading problem, something that used to be an issue with ipython and the like. I am not sure how to go about fixing this but perhaps there's something buried inside the spyder docs that would help.

I don't think there are many clawpack users who use Spyder, so I'm marking this "low priority". If there's a clawpack + spyder user who wants to investigate, that would be great.
