Without an explicit license, the default is kind of "all right reserved". That would not allow to easily republish modifications. MIT, GPL or similar would be much appreciated, but of course the decision is up to the code contributors. |
A official license was never really declared for this project originally, It was basically just said to "keep it open source". |
I see. Putting code up on Github but not adding any license means that the standard Github content license applies which means that the code is still copyrighted by the authors, but readers can read and fork the code here on Github. It's basically only good for studying the code but not to use it or developing it further without permission by the authors. Given that the authors here are difficult to find, the license situation will very likely remain like this. |
