MIP Data Specifications

Background Information

Data generated by climate modelling centres in response to the CMIP6 Data Request is now available through the ESGF search page. Preparation for the CMIP7 Data Request is being led by the CMIP Data Request Task team.

The Data Request defines technical metadata for diagnostics of the climate system to promote exchange of re-usable data. Details of the prcess and an overview of the resources available are provided in the web pages of the WGCM Infrastructure Panel.

Browse the CMIP6 Data Request

• The data request can be browsed online;
• It is also available as a python package dreqPy;
• The data request as an XML document is available in the Data Request Snapshots repository: see also Data Request XML format;
• A full listing of the database tables and the attributes defined in each table.
• A protoype interface for CMIP7 (see GitHub for the application source code).
