@cms-sw/generators-l2 , we had disabled shapa to use mcfm ( see #6662 , #6662 (comment) ). But we still have mcfm in cmssw distribution. The version of mcfm in cmssw is very old 6.3 (from 2012). As nothing in cmssw is using mcfm, so any objections on dropping it from cmssw distribution for CMSSW 12.6 and above releases? OR if we want to keep it around (for some gen-productions) then should we update its latest version to 10.2.1 ?

Hi Malik, Max Knobbe just gave an interesting presentation on Sherpa optimizations at QCD@LHC: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1150707/contributions/5146313/

One of the things mentioned is that the Sherpa MCFM interface can be used for analytic one-loop corrections which would be faster than OpenLoops. So we should probably try to upgrade MCFM and reactivate the interface.
