Thanks again for the last budget database as it was used to get something going for the RI budget Sankey diagram and the planned multi-year timeline area chart. Below are my 3 suggested requests:
1.) Validated FY2009-2015 budget datasets/database(w/ queries/filters) to the budget reports per year
At this point, we're not able to prove out the grand budgeted totals by year to the enacted budget reports so some support would be helpful. FY2015 budgeted totals of $9.8bill in the data and Sankey diagram was within a billion to enacted budget report total. I reached out to Brian and he has offered to take a look after March 12 but perhaps you may also touch base with him as well?
It would be helpful if the next updated database be validated per year and provide any special queries/filters or just a dataset that proves out to the reports.
Google fusion database: http://goo.gl/de3sUl
Budget report: (FY 2015 Budget as Enacted): http://goo.gl/4U6liX
Sankey Diagram: http://code-island.org/RI-Budget-Sankey/
2.) New FY2016 budget data
a.) Gov. Raimondo proposed budget - March 12
b.) FY 2016 Budget as Enacted - Estimated. Date?
It would be ideal if FY2016 data is made available close to when the upcoming proposed and/or enacted budget reports go public as it is when it may be most useful for the public to visualize while the new budget is being deliberated.
Some public feedback to the Sankey visual has been especially positive and many hope to have this. Perhaps a database admin with the budget dept. may have at some point some draft database records available to the FY2016 proposed/enacted budget reports.
3.) New Revenue detail data (related report http://goo.gl/1kh7R9)
a.) Revenue groups e.g. Licenses and Fees, Other Taxes
b.) Revenue detail e.g. Beach parking fees, Personal Income Tax
We'd like additional data starting FY2009 that was not included in last database that may allow us to extend/enhance the visualizations to include more detailed revenue sources.
We look forward to discussing further in the next meeting.
Thanks,
Nelson
