Course Information |
Regression analysis is a fundamental statistical technique used to model the relationship between multiple variables. It is a very flexible tool that can be used to address a range of research questions. This course builds on the Beginner’s Regression workshop where you will learn how to use regression models with R to model complex, multi-dimensional datasets and make more nuanced comparisons.
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Use regression answer to answer a wide range of research questions
- Fit a regression model with interactions between predictor variables
- Fit multi-level regression models
- Extract and summarise the results from a range of regression models
- Design a regression model appropriate for addressing their specific research question
Learners are expected to already be familiar with
- the basics of R, such as how to load a dataset from a local file and manipulate variables
- simple regression models, including linear regression, logistic regression and multiple regression.
This a hybrid workshop run over 1 sessions. The schedule can be found here.

Session 1 | 26th April | 10am -1pm | Training Room 4, Old Library Streatham Campus | Registration is closed |
If you have registered for this course you can find the instructions for setting up your computer here.
If you are unable to attend any of the dates above the notes for this course are available here and are freely available to work through in your own time. Please note that you will need to have completed the set up instructions above.
On completion of these course you will be invited to join a network of other participants. This is a supportive forum for you to ask follow up question and receive tailed invites to follow on courses.
Please remember to complete a feedback survey. Our workshops are under continual review and your experiences, suggestions and criticism are invaluable for shaping the direction of this initiative. This is especially important if you complete the materials in your own time as it enables us to measure impact. If you have ideas on other courses you would like to see then please contact us: CodingForReproducibleResearch@exeter.ac.uk.
If you are interested in becoming part of our community of workshop helpers, leaders and developers please contact us: CodingForReproducibleResearch@exeter.ac.uk.
This course has been developed for the Coding for Reproducible Research programme a network of researchers and Research Software Engineers who are enthusiastic about sharing their skills with the wider research community. If you have benefitted in any way from this course and want to support its long term sustainability then please take the time to complete our feedback survey, recommend it to your colleagues, and enthuse about it to your senior leadership team.
This workshop is brought to you by:
