Commune as a community toolkit and service has to fit itself into various use cases.
Discord-first
Many communities currently use Discord as a default. Commune therefore initially be introduced as a bridge for Discord: #2
Matrix.org
Most Matrix rooms are hosted by Matrix.org. Commune.sh needs to offer a simple way for these people to extend their instance with Commune even though they can’t self-host it.
Could Commune.sh just provide an alternative URL to access Matrix.org instances with Commune layered on top?
Self-hosted Matrix
A few thousand people/organizations are self-hosting their own Matrix (Synapse) instance. It should be possible for them to add Commune into their existing infrastructure.
