Title field as title above tabs

Could the entry title field be removed from the tabbed field section (maybe make this configurable) and allow managing the title by click/double-clicking the orange title above the tabs? (if the title is editable, eg not auto-generated).

There could even be an edit icon beside it as a visual reinforcement.

This is similar to what Google Docs does..

+1. It‘s definitely a tad confusing right now that you switch tabs but the title is always there. I would love the option to have it above the tabs as this feature request says, or have it in one of the tabs.

I don't necessarily support the proposed solution of clicking the orange title to edit, but I would like to see the title field exist outside the tabs area. As others have said, it's confusing to editors and makes it seem like the Title field is unique to each tab group instead of the global entry title.

I'm not sure if I agree with having the title field render like in that plugin, but I'm casting a vote here because I think the title field should definitely be moved out from the tabbed section, or at least be more clearly separated from the fields actually belonging to a specific tab.

I've discussed this with several clients and the way the title field is rendered right now is definitely confusing to many. It basically appears like each tab has its own title field, where it should be crystal clear that this is the entry's title field.

I realise there are other considerations with this too... such as the form tag would need expanded to encompass the "header" area where the title is. And either the title input field would need to auto-expand horizontally or the revisions dropdown will need moved/removed when editing the title.

This isn’t really needed anymore, since titles can be placed in a specific place in the field layout since Craft 3.5.
