Tom and I met yesterday. Quick summary:

• Kiwi release is not going to help
  • doesn't provide any significant difference in response times
  • mod-search (Elasticsearch) doesn't yet support queries we would need
• reached out to Frances re: Solr indices behind D&A
  • there is an endpoint that includes all items, even those suppressed from discovery
  • looks promising although IP restricted, so not a home run for signage app

Next steps

• Investigate feasibility of Solr endpoint as equipment data source #214

Initial POC of middleware using Solr endpoint continues to look promising, so putting this on the back burner for now.
