Using this application

Installation

  1. Select your install mode. I would recommend installing it on all users.

    If you chose "Install for all users", click Yes to the UAC prompt.

  2. Click "I accept the agreement" and click Next
  3. Choose the folder you want to install customIcons on. Click Next.

    Click Next without changing it if you want to install it to the default path.

  4. Check "Create a desktop shortcut" if you want the installer to create a desktop shortcut. Click Next.
  5. Click Install.
  6. You can now press Finish and customIcons will just launch.

Patching a folder

  1. Choose an icon. You can use the search bar at the top-right corner below the "X" button.
  2. Click "Patch drives/folders"

  3. Choose what folder do you want to patch. Click OK.
  4. Wait for Explorer to restart.
  5. You've successfully patched a folder!

Patching a drive

  1. Choose an icon. You can use the search bar at the top-right corner below the "X" button.
  2. Click "Patch drives/folders"

  3. Choose what drive you want to patch. Click OK.
  4. Click "Yes" on UAC
  5. Wait for the patcher to close.
  6. Refresh or restart any File Explorer windows.
  7. You've successfully patched a drive!

Patching Desktop icons

This will require some work.

  1. Choose an icon. You can use the search bar at the top-right corner below the "X" button.
  2. Click "Patch Desktop Icons".

  3. Click Yes.

  4. Select what desktop icon you want to change/patch. Click "Change Icon..."

  5. Click the textbox below "Look for icons in this file:", then press CTRL + V, then click the first icon, the click OK.

  6. Click OK.
  7. You've successfully patched a desktop icon!

Extracting an icon from DLL/EXE file or copying the icon

  1. Click "View or Extract icons from file..."
  2. Choose between extracting to PNG, extracting to ICO, or copying the icon.

The below steps are only on extracting to PNG or ICO.

  1. Name your file, then press Save.
  2. You've now extracted an icon!
