Is there a way to open an editor during git diff?

For example, with tig in diff-view, I can press a key (e.g. e) and it opens editor with $EDITOR and that makes a seamless viewing and editing experience.

Based on my research seems like it's currently not possible with delta (git pager in gitconfig) but just wanted to ask to see if anyone knows about how.
