A small collection of data sets should be identified that are able to serve as test cases that cover all of the requirements listed in #12 .

Perhaps this data on India Consumer Prices would be a good candidate for a treemap of line charts:

https://data.gov.in/catalog/all-india-consumer-price-index-ruralurban

The first step to using this would be to get it into a nice CSV format with columns like:

Date - Standard date format string that contains year and month
Sector - Values wither "Rural" or "Urban" (and maybe "Rural+Urban")
Item - Values from the rest of the fields field like "Cereal and Products", "Pulses and Pulse Products", etc.
Price - Consumer Price Indices (CPI), numbers from the rows of the data.
