Im also having the same problem using the 9.04 xubuntu version and other
9.04 ubuntu releases its hanging right after the /proc/mounts: file not
found/ no directory error.!
the thing is I have been listing to the harddrive and its continue to load
i can even hear the point its loaded the sound drivers.. but i dont get a
gui.. and the system just hangs... frustrating because its made me install
and install over and over again thinking i was dumping too much programs
out of the synaptic program manager but clearly not the case others have
the same issues.

I'm trying to install Hardy Netboot and have the partitions set up and
bootloader installed and ext3 on /dev/sda4 and swap as /dev/sda5,
installed to /dev/sda4 but when I boot, right after kexec, I get an error
that /proc/mounts is not found and the boot hangs. Help?

I have the exact same issue. I posted about this but no one has responded. Has
this
been solved? If I need to, I will try and install a different version of
linux, but
not sure which one to try. Help!!!
