Will this support identities of 'things' and not just people/devices?

Hi @FrankC01

Is this questions about interacting with II from IoT devices?
The only requirement to interact with Internet Identity is to be able to make canister calls and sign messages using a signature scheme as described here. Does this answer your question?

However, I don't yet see the use-case for doing so. Would you mind describing the context of your question?

Hi @frederikrothenberger
The use case is to leverage identity as immutable identifier to represent a "thing" such as a car-part, drivers license, etc.

The idea is to (amongst other things) manage provenance for such a thing...

Thanks @FrankC01 for the clarification.

However, I'm not sure that Internet Identity is the correct tool for the job. II is an identity provider intended for active clients that need access to a shared identity by means of their public key. I would assume that car-parts, drivers licenses, etc. are not actively interacting with anything, right?
This seems more like an NFT related idea...
