Element patches (diffs)

Support creating and using deltas/patches for individual elements. This makes it more practical to store larger, non-static objects in Pippin.

Make the patch type, creation function and application function completely user-defined?

This could even be more general: allow patch creation from multiple or single elements, and element recreation from zero or more given ancestors — but this generalisation may not have much use.
