detoxrc help request (not an issue)

first thank you for this great software.

appologies if tis not the way to ask for this.

my objective is to have detox do what it does but with one tweak: that spaces in filename/foldername be replaced with . (dot).
Only that, all the rest of the default configuraiton is fine for me.
I have read the man file, but this is above my understanding.
I have root on linux/freebsd systems so I can right a systemwide detoxrc and/or detox.tbl, i just dunno what to put in.

if you have the time to either answer my question (what do i put in the config file[s]) or to point me to some ressource that can help, it would be much appreciated.

What version of detox are you using? The instructions are different between version 1.x and later versions.
