[Feature Request] Is it possible to add the mod RealGibs? #591
Comments
where can the code with those changes be found? |
I also recently started following this mod. And it’s really amazing even without damage being tied to it, but as I understand it, this mod is still being developed by the author and he hasn’t made the code publicly available. We wait! |
Although it seems that linking damage to a specific location is not included in the real gib mod, but is a separate Doom Survivor mod that the author does in parallel, and perhaps the author will be able to combine these two mods in the future. |
Here is the latest community-saved version of the mod called Doom Survivor but without the source code - https://archive.org/details/Doom-3-Survivor |
darknar has made a mod called RealGibs which apparently has two versions - one is universal and should work with Dhewm3, however it does not have location specific damage (when an enemy’s health is below a certain threshold, all of the body parts come off, so gibbing will likely be relegated to weapons like the rocket launcher and BFG, etc.)
The other version he says has location specific damage (so it’s possible to only blow off an arm or a leg, etc.), but it requires some kind of changes to the SDK. He said that he’s on board with it being added to Dhewm3 if someone wanted to do it. Obviously, the version with location specific damage would be awesome!
Personally I do not have the capability otherwise I would offer; I just wanted to bring it to your attention. Here’s a thread in which I was discussing this with him on X:
