AEOLUS provides a curated and standardized version of FAERS. It

  • removed duplicate case records

  • applied standardized vocabularies with drug names mapped to RxNorm concepts and outcomes mapped to SNOMED-CT concepts

  • pre-computed summary statistics about drug-outcome relationships for general consumption

The paper can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.1038/sdata.2016.26

Thanks @yhao-compbio for the heads up. I believe I met with some of the authors while this was resource was in preparation, but it came out too late to be incorporated into Hetionet v1.0.

Compared to SIDER which extract side effects from drug labels, the FAERS data should give a better estimate of what extent each compound causes each side effect. This could help us score each side effect or provide a minimum effect size / significance score at which to create a relationship.

Will look into this more if / when we update Hetionet. Also feel free to post any other side effect resources that may be useful.
