When tabbing out the second time, the game consumes all VRAM it can acquire on my RTX 3080 10 GB (shown by nvidia-smi). This also leads to my X11 Gnome desktop to start lagging and behaving erroneous. @gofman This bug is a regression from #2675.

Additionally, since this VRAM bug, the host will quickly run out of memory too when debugging via VK_INSTANCE_LAYERS=VK_LAYER_KHRONOS_validation.

How much VRAM does the game use normally? Are we talking about a small increase in VRAM when you alt-tab or does it 'explode'?

It goes from 3 GB to 9 GB, don't know if it would allocate more VRAM if it could.

Can't replicate this on AMD. The game sits at a steady 3.8GB on high settings 1080p
