Right now, cloud registry credentials for ECR/GAR/GCR/ACR are provided either implicitly or indirectly, such as:

  • instance profile for AWS
  • adding annotations to the controller ServiceAccount for GCR
  • adding envvars to the controller for things like ACR

This may work and in some cases be valid, but we should extend the configuration to provide explicit configuration fields where they make sense.
