Sometimes repos receive spam/abusive issues filed, which get manually deleted by the repo maintainer... for issues that have been get deleted, could they be filtered out of a the summary?

I've looked a bit into it - the digest is based on the events end point of the GitHub API, where the deleted status of the issues isn't directly exposed. This would require doing a separate status check on each issue / pull request, which would raise significantly the time and API rate usage needed to run the script.
Maybe the status check could be done via the GraphQL API to a lower cost.
