Linking incidents to deployments?

I noticed that incidents require a root cause commit hash to be linked for the metrics to work correctly.

Is there any way to automate this? Or how has your team managed this?

Currently my teams deployments can have multiple commits or commits from unrelated repos which trigger deployments (ArgoCD for instance)

For reference we use CircleCi, Pagerduty, ArgoCD and GitHub.
