Not the worst thing ever, but I'd be a bit concerned about the implicit nature of it. I'm guessing the init would have higher priority and be called in any context where it's allowed to be called. As such the behavior is unambiguous, but I'm pretty sure it'd cost someone a lot of hours of frustration at some point.

Yes. I'm back to being interested in the syntax init Prop = expression; to call init rather than set. Or something equivalent.

I've already asking if this was possible (#4164)
I would love to see this coming 😄
I'd prefer seperate set and init rather than fieldof(), as it would be more versatile (private init with public set, but in my case, it was the other way around)
