Investigate static-linking

The executable and SOs add up to 227Mb, which is just huge.
There must be a lot of dead code in those external dependencies.
Just Boost is massive, unzipping to 0.5Gb of source code.
To get to the smaller form-factors, we're going to need static linking and dead-code stripping.
